Title: Phalombe Disaster Memorial Pillar
Description: In 1991 over 500 people, mostly from Bokosi Village, lost their lives in severe flooding and landslides. Deforestation was thought to be the cause. This Pillar commemorates that event. Since then community re-forestation has been attempted to reduce vulnerability.
